Canadian Copyright Law Protest Video

There has been a lot of talk going around lately about the new Canadian Copyright Act, Bill C-61. Clearly the Canadian government is feeling the pressure from record companies, film studios and American influences, but why are we caving into to them?

If you take a look at the new bill there is some very serious stuff included in it. There are some pretty harsh penalties for copyright infringement (I’m not condoning illegal downloading or purposely breaking copyright laws, but I do think it makes more sense to see things in a more realistic way). The new bill also puts far too much power into border guards hands, giving them the power to search iPods, cellphones and laptops for copyrighted material. The new legislation is by no means realistic, it is so far from society feels about copyrights, it’s absolutely ridiculous.
