Testing Out Blogo (Revisited).
I tried testing out Blogo, a desktop blogging applications, earlier today but had a few problems.
First I’m going to be honest and say I’m not really sure If I need a destop blogging applications, I’ve never found the in-browser wordpress interface difficult and have generally been happy with the experience of using it. But I have been noticing the number of blogging applications popping up and felt that maybe it would be worth it to give it a try.
I typed out a short post about Blogo and that I was testing it out, but it proved troublesome when I tried to post an image. When the image uploaded it was far too big and threw off the entire layout of the post. I couldn’t figure out how to readjust it from the Blogo interface, so I was forced to directly edit the post from the wordpress article. Now to me this completely defeats the purpose of using a desktop application. Why would I bother using a seperate application when I still had to use the in-browser interface?
But this was just the most minor of problems. There was also an inexplicable amount of space between the article header and the body of the article, depite their not actually being any space in either the Blogo text window or the wordpress one. When I attempted to fix the issue Blogo crashed and the article disappeared from my blog.
So as the title of this post says I’m trying Blogo out for a second time. This time I have yet to post an image, but I have significantly more text. We’ll see how this works.
Some things I do like about Blogo are:
- Streamlined Interface
- Easier to use bold, italics, quotations, and list points.
- Ease of adding tags, and Blogo’s ability to remember tags.
- Ease of uploading images (although it’s not as easy to adjust their size).
[UPDATE] Ok it looks like it is still producing the inexplicable chunk of space between the header and the body. I also haven’t figured out how to add a categories to a post directly from Blogo.
