Twitter Saves the Day

This story is almost a week old now, but it’s interesting so I’m talking about it anyways.

A U.C. Berkeley student who was arrested while traveling in Egypt alerted friends by texting the word “arrested” to his twitter account.

Turns out that he was arrested for photographing a protest as a part of his journalism graduate project.

Immediately upon reading his tweet, several Twitter users contacted a Berkeley law office as well as the Egyptian U.S. Embassy. As a result of his tweet and the actions of the people on Twitter who responded to his call for help he managed to walk out of jail the next day
